Nope, the sc is just tied/clipped to the sewn on loops of grosgrain webbing. Theres enough tension to lift the bottom of the bag snugly to the hammock. Probably a 3 foot length of 1/8" or 3/16" sc at each of the bag will be plenty. Adjust accordingly for your bag and hammock combo to get the right length. Or leave the sc long for use with other hammocks.
That was a mummy style bag.
Plenty of other folks had done this prior to my attempt and many after. Do a search for pod or sleeping bag and you'll find many references.

Gargoyle, is 60 inches wide enough for most adults? Just a thought, putting a flap inside on the ends just inside from where the drawcords are to prevent air from coming in and keeping drafts out. The same concept as a draft tube on a sleeping bag, but just a long flap that hangs down.

one thing about the peapod is its length is considerably longer than most sleeping bags. I am not entirely sure but I would thik that this extra length allows the narrow ends of the pod to come together with minimal compression of the middle section that surrounds your body (Allowing a looser fit) most full size sleeping bags are around 76-80 inches or so the pod is 114 inches 9.5 feet. Again I dont know this as a fact just a hunch
