    Beautiful trail, great trip.

a local who loves the FHT

I live between greenville and spartanburg SC and I use the FHT alot.... I've hiked portions with sons scout troop and have done solo trips around the lake jocassee segment and along the chatooga.... I'm a slower hiker so it's almost as nice as the AT (scenery!!!! but no shelters and more solitude). IT's great during the cold months cause the elevation is lower but the trail is as steep and tough as the AT just shorter. love it!! it also links to mountain bridge trails to make a longer hike for you fast hikers.
