Its just stiff because it is on my floor. It covers my shoulders and I can wrap it around me to get some good coverage. The top of me is nice and warm while the UQ is keeping my back in the same shape.

I don't think it would be a great TQ for ground sleeping though since it wouldn't fit me as well around the entire body like a sleeping bag. But....it is a hammock TQ

And yes...everything is in the bag.

I am the same way with the volume. I work to keep the weight down as much as I can, but I like to keep my load compact. I have a 40L pack and a RIBZ pack. Fortunately, keeping down the volume tends to keep down the weight most the time.

I checked a few of the sites and they have BY FAR the best prices. Moreover, their selection of weights is much more diverse.

I do not know of the overall weight. I don't own a scale. Together I'd say they way a good amount less than a 32 deg synthetic bag. So, <3lb?

I need to find something to do with all these odd insulation scraps! Any suggestions?? I made a tiny pillow for my neck. The insulation compresses a bit TOO well I think for that though.

    ciphoto,
The questions keep coming. Its your fault for completing such an interesting project.

    You said you used 24 oz of fill. I calculate you need 18-19 oz of fill at 550 FP. {75"length x 45"width(avg betw 50 & 40) x 3"loft} / 550FP = 18.4oz

I want to make a 45 x 55 UQ that will take me to 30-40 degrees.
    I estimate (45 x 55 x 3) / 550 = 13.5 oz of PermaLoft fill.
Anybody want to comment on this math?

wwk10, I have asked a similar question over here.

Primaloft Sport 6oz/yd has a loft of 1.2" and is said to be good for 30 degrees.
Based on my initial experiences using 13.5oz may not loft to 3"

wwk10 I set up a spread sheet and used the numbers it gave me, and I also weighed before and after filling. As mentioned in the other thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...t=40227&page=2

Your numbers look good to me.

Yard tested last night with this TQ got down to 39/38 I was toasty sleeping au naturel. Woke up a couple times, during the night, one nature call, other trains, dog etc... but never for cold. At 3:30 when I woke up feet were a little cool, so I put on some socks.

Had my sleeping bag UQ and my solite pad for bottom insulation...
