It is a simply because I thought I had read on this forum that the double & triple fishermans knot had pulled through on amsteel. On paracord it is safe, but IIRC the article posted that amsteel was too slipery and pulled through itself.
Yes it is a good knot to use, and to know, I was just trying to repeat what I had read here.
I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
I use Linux.
I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

Bury the tag ends...it looks neater, and the constriction provides a bit of insurance.

If you must use knots in Amsteel, then go with the triple fishermans bend.
In general Amsteel (Dyneema) does not do well with knots because of two main issues.
1. It is very slippery and tests have shown that knots can slip at even a small fraction of the rope's rated tensile strength.
2. It is very weak in compression so knots can seriously compromise the ropes strength.

Rank amateur here, I've made several CL's with amsteel it is quite easy and fun. As others have said it doesn't take long to learn and looks\functions much better, my 2 cents.

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm going to try both, and see which works best for me. I've already made a couple of the CLs using the triple fisherman's knots, and will try a few using the splicing info that people posted.
