    Hello from American Fork, UT

I've been lurking here for months and figured it was about time I started to participate more. I had been looking into hammocks for about a year when I finally ordered and received a HH explorer deluxe with the complete 4 season shelter back in February right after I got my tax return back. I've spent several nights in it. I like it a lot. But I got bit by the Bug... I started by trying to implement a penny stove. I then got 50 feet each of 2 colors of 7/64" Amsteel Blue. I made 4 whoopie slings and 2 fixed loop ended bear ropes. I then fixed an old thread injector and put together a cheap hammock from material I got at wally world. I put a pair of whoopie slings on my HH and used the old ropes for my new hammock. I found a very conveniently spaced set of tree at the back of the lot at work. I have been enjoying a very relaxed set of lunch hours since then. I just order a CAB from Tinny at MBD and 60 ft of 1" webbing from DIYGearSupply. I've found that I've become somewhat of a hangging evangelist at work... I think they all think I'm crazy. I just wish I had more time to lay back and contemplate life, the universe and everything, as well as good places to hang in north central Utah. Any suggestions would be appreciated...
Looking forward to helping where I can and learning from the lot of you.

Welcome aboard from Florida. Looks like you've got it pretty bad. For the ultimate in hanging put one up in your bedroom. Been hanging fulltime since the first of July, one night in a bed since then and was miserable. Enjoy the fun!

Welcome to the forum from central CA! I sojourned in the Provo area for a few years and really liked it there. If I recall, there are some beautiful areas in the Timpanogos Mountains. I remember some lovely aspen groves that would have been perfect for hanging, and I just want to kick myself for not being a hanger 15 years ago when I was there. About this time of year the mountains go red/orange, and while I love the Sierra's evergreens, I miss the discernable change of scenery the fall brings with it in your neck of the woods.

I empathize with the bug-bite. Early mornings I root through garbage cans where I work for soda cans so I can experiment with penny alcohol stoves; I look for excuses to make gathered end hammocks; I grab cordage every opportunity that I get. The Missus complains that my corner of the garage is beginning to look like Sanford and Sons. While it doesn't get any better, there are certainly worse things I could be doing.

Again, welcome to the forum. Hope to hear all about your future adventures!
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Welcome from right up the road... I know the feeling. I have a couple pics on my PC at work that have started some long not work related conversation. It would normally be ok but my boss sits right next to me...
