Vargo Outdoors "Ascent" Titanium Snow Stakes from zpacks.com

They are lighter than the MSR groundhogs but just as functional

I use carbon fiber stakes from TiGoat. I wasn't satisfied with the holding power & strength of the Ti stakes so gave TiGoat's a shot. Holding power is excellent and only 7 grams each.

    ground stakes

    number 14 aluminum knitting needles.

With a key ring through the end.
Weight,.... next to nothing. Cost, about $1.00 apiece.
Plenty of grip in any soil or snow.
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

+1 on the DIYGearSupply (BWDD) stakes. The color helps me find them if dropped.

I was guessing that he was one of those "smaller" hilkers and didn't need much tarp, or stakes to hold it!!
