FWIW, the web site for the figure 9 gizmo for size small says from 2 mm line... JRB STLs are 2mm line....So they should work.

Tying a tautline hitch with a blight is so simple and comes apart with a tug on the running end....I can do these in under 3 seconds with my eyes closed and cold hands...Willing to demonstrate at the Mt Roger Hang Out later this month.

Can't see the hassle, weight, wear and tear on the lines and potential to loose them (and if you tie them on to prevent loss, then they are attached). So then you are rolling or stuffing them in with your tarp, probably problematic, certainly less than desirable with all those little points and burrs.... just my 0.02.

Tought I saw someplace that there is a discount for trail yuppies.

If any one gets these bring them to the Mt Rogers Hang Out so we can check them out.

it was actualy dave/youngblood that got me started using the clove hitch on the tarp stake.
after doing it a few times, it has become pretty simple.
mater-a-fact, it's so simple, a cave man could do it! (sorry cave men<g>)
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Is 50lbs safe for a tarp?

I had my ULB stock tarp tied off to a rock that was probably about thirty pounds last month in some crazy wind and rain. Tied to the side, I mean, where I would normally stake it out. I woke up soaked because the wind was strong enough to have dragged the rock a good foot closer to my hammock.

that is a 50 lb rating per attachment. If you use one for each corner and one along the sides your rating goes up overall.

I'm really curious now about the force generated on a tarp. Sounds like the perfect project for blackbishop

Just make sure you are wearing all of your TNF gear and drinking a Smirnoff while you are timing it.

That sounds interesting. I think it would be baised on the wind speed, tarp size, tarp pitch, and numbere of tie-outs.

I think my guy lines are 250 lbs test. I think they would servive any wind. Although I think my tent stakes would come out first.

I've seen tentpegs that were quite smooth from use do damage when not separated and shielded .

I did notice that ...pictures too

So maybe we can all have some skill contests/demos at the Jan hang out...should help keep us warm... ... how much does the stop watch weigh?...maybe we should just count...one thousand one, etc
