    Don't get me wrong, you would sleep better in the expedition then on the ground but my guess you would be more comfortable in the explorer. Look at post 13 by Owl in this thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...t=38218&page=2 He says it better then I can.

    I use a 9 dlx in my double layer blackbird when it gets chilly, usually it's just my diy sleeping bag underquilt when it's warmer. In the double layer the dam stays put nicely, unlike in my ENO single layer which squirts off and out.

    I have a huge kayak trip (3k miles) I'm planning for, and will bring both a tent and hammock, depending on what I find myself in. the 9dlx I can use in both the hammock and tent. It's nice to have a system that works together like that.

    and just when I thought I was the ultimate gearhead (now converted to hammock gearhead) , I had never heard of the exped.

    anyone know how the exped compares to the Thermarest Neo?

    The exped is heavier and bulkier but in my opinion more comfortable.

    The neoair is narrower and much more compact. It's also noisy to sleep on.
