James H."Sloppy" Floyd Fall Hang Report

Well guys we have just completed our first ever hammock hang here at Sloppy Floyd State Park and I have to say we had a blast. We only had 6 Hammockforums.net members there but man did we have fun. This was a park basically in my back yard and I was really pleased with how it turned out. We got to admire each others gear and just establish some hopefully long lasting friendships. GrizzlyHackle cooked Roosevelt Beans for everyone Saturday night. I was able to do some real world outdoor testing on the new FLASHOVER STOVE and was really happy about it. All in all I cooked 2 cups of water for Spaghetti, 2 cups of water for Buffalo Chicken Rice, 2 cups of water 4 times for coffee, water for 4 packs of Oatmeal and 5 pancakes on a one egg wonder and I used only 3 ounces of fuel. We thoroughly enjoyed,WJL, tfd1208, smokeeater908, grizzly hackle, rodcville, the2nddeal and some of the children playing around. We are planning on maybe doing this again in the spring and fall. If I can convince the park manager we are going to try it again next year and see how much we can make it grow. Thanks for checking this out and watch the video and check out my pics to see what kind of setups we had and check out the scenery.

Perfect weekend for the trip. Loved the video. Next best thing to being there.

Sorry I didn't make it up there. I came down with a fever thurs night so my butt didn't move anyplace this weekend.

Been talking to a few friends about going to Red top mntn next week - may have to see about going to Sloppy floyd park instead.

    Another bummed hanger

I also would have liked to have been there, but my oldest had a dance performance and # 2 volunteered to work at the reception table. I certainly hope that I can get to one of the group hangs in the near future.

SE908, it's cool to see your kids out having fun in the great outdoors. My daughters' friends think that the walk from the front door to the car is a walk in nature.

Thanks guys for the kind words and yes it was a blast especially with the girls hanging around some, even though the twins decided not to stay Boo stayed all weekend and she really enjoyed it. Overall we had a great time and it is some amazing how great the camaraderie was with the hammockforums.net members. Can't wait for another hang to hopefully meet up with some more members. I am also glad you guys are enjoying my videos, I am trying to do the best that I can with them and not seem crazy or anything. I have a lot of designs for some stoves and some ideas for cool gear so keep checking my youtube channel.
