I have an oes standard and just sold my superfly. Both were high quality tarps. I really love my standard and the high quality. Brian really goes above and beyond to make a tarp that will last. My experience with him was great, he made mine custom in black which is important to me to have choices.

I had the olive brown superfly, I believe it is the one that was outsourced to china but the quality was still great. The color is nice, in some light its more of a brown and in other its more of a dark olive green. The biggest difference is that the cat cut are less deep on warbonnets tarps. So it may take a steeper pitch to getthe OES doors completely shut.

Like I said before I like to choose the color and features. If I had had to get another winter tarp I'd go with Brian for that reason but the superfly has everything you need. Wilderness logics will also make you one slightly custom.

Thank you for correcting me Brandon, I apologize for making assumptions. I had assumed at the $130 mark it had to be outsourced like the others at the time.

That's a whole lot of tarp for 19oz and $130.

I agree, and if they didn't show up just as I was going to order I would get to buy one from Brandon, one day I will. By the way I love the Super Fly.

    Swank-e,

IMO, they grey is the best choice due to it's resistance of the heat from the sun. Black grabs the most heat and reflects it to the user, whereas grey deflects more of it. In winter, it's usually cloudy so the effects are nil and if sunny probably won't matter either. In the heat of summer, the colors would really matter. Just my opinion though.

Also I just received an OES winter tarp (10'x11) in the mail. I went with Mac Cat because of the add on options available and the seam sealing job they do. A lot of tarp manufacturers big and small send you a tube of goo to do it yourself, which I didn't want to do. My OES came sealed . The silicon sealant was a little sticky when I got it but was completely dry, meaning not messy at all. I laid it out to cure further just to be safe. It might get"sticky" again if it heats up which is inevitable but figure this might be normal? I'm a newbie too and still learning. Waiting on the storms here to do my first hang and pitch for the Mac cat.

Take and powder the seam that is sealed with a cotton ball and some talcom powder,,will keep from sticking. Just rub it on lightly.

This thread helped convince me to order a superfly (okay, I didn't need help to spend more money on gear but at least helped me choose where to spend it). What I didn't like about the oes winter tarp was the cat cut on the doors seemed to leave a pretty big gap. Also the included pullouts on the SF were nice. Brandon also claims that seam sealing isn't needed but if I feel different, I've done the work more than a few times.
