okay guys,
I need your help. I've decided to start my first DIY UQ. I'll be using a poncho liner for added comfort. I'll fold it in half lengthwise, sew it together and sew baffles in it to fill with down and then sew the baffles closed and add shock cord to attach it to my hammock. My question is, how much 800 fill down do I need? I'll be using it in the mountains of east Tennessee and I'd rather be warmer than chilled. Any help is appreciated.

It has a quick easy formula to get the rating you want.
I'd skip the poncho liner. I don't think the fabric is downproof, and it's already heavier than it needs to be... (yes, I have 2 PL's!)
If you're going that route, and want an ULTRA-EASY UQ, get some calendared 1.1 fabric from DIYGearsupply.com, choose your size, sew channels in each end, 3" wide rectangles down the length, fill with down and hang it up.
Of course, a sewn-through down UQ isn't as warm as a baffled one, but it'd take 1/2 the time...

Hey thanks guys. You've got a point, the liner is heavy. I've spent many a night under a poncho and poncho liner. I'll keep you guys in the loop with the progress.
