Does anyone make a kids size top or under quilt?

I would think that any of the partial length underquilts would work great for kiddos. My son used a Flamethrower a little while back and was fine in it.

Kids sizes have been rattling around in my pumpkin noggin for some time (with 3 little ones of my own) but I have not gotten off my butt to make it happen. The trick is they grow so dang fast....how many sizes would be appropriate to make? I'm willing to give it a shot if someone is not on a time frame so I can fiddle with sizing a little.

    Hi mtinaz,

We do not advertise them but we have made a number of very small custom top and underquilts for the little hangers out there. Contact me if you would like more information regarding some custom work.

This is a little bit off topic, but related. When I did UQs for my kids I made them an adult 3/4 length, which ended up being full length for the kids. This way there is less fiddle factor for keeping the feet warm. When they grow more, they can decide if they want a longer quilt or not. They won't outgrow them very soon either.

I would think this would be the way to go for kid sized underquilts. As for top quilts, I think it would be more cost effective to go with kid size sleeping bags, likely much cheaper to purchase and or replace/pass down to younger kids as the older ones grow. I would think that with children that any backpacking trips would be very short in distance so the weight/bulk penalty with sleeping bags would be minimized.

    Cheers

I made my 7 year old son a under quilt out of an old sleeping bag I had and it works fairly well, but I still need something for my 4 soon to be 5 year old daughter. (she asks to sleep in it all the time). The problem with kids sleeping bags is weight and they seem either really cheap or much to expensive. I would like them to be able to carry there hammock, quilts, and cloths while still having a very light pack. I would try to make some but my wife claims I broke her machine on the last project and I have been banned.

I found a used small Nunatak TQ that my son used. He is now in a used full size Burrow and passed the Nunatak on to my nephew. Keep an eye out for deals. Not many people looking for a small. Of course if my Brother-in-law doesn't pay me soon, I may put it up for sale (not really ). Boy likes to camp.
