2nd Annual SC Fall Sprawl *2012* Info & Questions

Hey guys, this year I put on the FIRST Annual SC Fall Sprawl and I feel it was a great time for all. I would have always like to have had more people show up, but with the ones that came we had a good mix of people and ideas and was just right.

This next year, I'm going to try to go bigger and better of course, with some better planning and of course, more time for you guys to get there (I'm looking at you NewtonGT, JaxHiker & Muskrat...)

SO! This will be to just clear the date, I know its a year off but I want to make sure the last weekend in September should work as far as other events going on. This year I don't think there was any other events planned, and I want to keep it about the same days

If I were to keep it the same, it would be September 28, 29 & 30. If it makes any other difference, the weekend before could work as well so long as theres no other major events in the area (altho I think grayson highlands would be going on, I will try to work around that as to not compete)

Let me know if this sounds good, and ANY suggestions at all that you can think feel free, especially to those that came!

I have an idea where theres a DIY raffle. Basically those that can afford to, make something DIY style (UQ's tarps, stoves etc. anything) at the hang and we raffle those off. Hopefully this will do 2 things: provide people with ideas and instruction on how to make things, then the chance to take something home. This last hang Captain Smileys boy Dalton (spiderman) took home the PLUQ I made before hand, and from what Ive heard, is lovin it!

    Thanks!!!

looks like it may have to be the either the week before (the 3rd weekend), the above weekend and compete with grayson, or the first official october weekend. ideas? maybe the one before?

Well, I'm a n00b and didn't even know about this year but I would like to think y'all are going to love my charming personality and want me at all your hangs so my vote is for early October, I deal with fiscal budgets and can't get away the last of the FY, oh yeah and my anniversary is Sep. 26 so that weekend is out.

By the way Rev, I love your quote from Dante - my favorite author, Terry Pratchett, has used it as well and it's on my signature line on my work email

Heck Rev, you set the date, we'll be there. Of course you know who "WE" are. Of course, next time, remind me to bring more tea.

ok so heres the dates pros & cons.

Sept 21-23 Warmer (in theory), slightly more bugs maybe better weather.

Sept 28-30: wed be running with Grayson Highlands Fall Festival hang in VA, which is a bit further away. Id like some of the attendees of that hang to have the chance to come to mine, but i dont see too much of a big deal.

Oct 5-7 Cooler (in theory) with slightly less bugs. possibly poor weather (around here, thats what happens.)

    REV,

My personal plea would say to shoot for early-mid September. My girls' are competing with a competitive gymnastics team and their meet season begins at the end of September. I really can't plan to attend ANY hang until I know their competition dates(usually late August). I would definitely like to make all SC hangs if I can and where feasible, I would like to bring my family.

However, this is your hang, and rightfully so, plan it to best fit the needs that will accommodate the greater outcome.

I am locked in for 2 hangs every year: Goat Island and the Upstate hang. I will fight the family with rubber swords and water guns if needed. All other hangs, I am at the mercy of the family calendar. Love my family, but I gotta get in at least 2 hangs per year.
