    Bugnet for Winter?

So I've been using a Grand Trunk Double as my goto hammock now that I'm mostly out of bug season. However, I was remembering back to last winter when I had a freezing face just from the ambient air underneath my tarp. Question is, will the bugnet on my hennessy work as an ultra breathable top cover just to keep the chill off my face? I know a lot of ppl carry over covers for deep winter, but I refuse to bring another hammock worth of material, when there is already ultralight bugnetting on my hennessy that seems to block most of the moving air that's under my tarp, plus I won't have to worry about condensation forming on it like an overcover. Thoughts?

I'm wondering the same about mine. It certainly keeps the air from moving when it's 90 outside

Yes, the netting will hold in some heat. Not as much as a less porous material, but it does help.

Don't think it won't catch condensation though. In below-freezing temps it's quite common to wake and find the moisture from your exhaled breath to be frozen on the netting.

I feel like a major benefit of a bug net in winter is that it pulls the solid excess fabric of the hammock up where it would normally hang loose and not block the direct wind so much where your face would be. You could always make or purchase a winter sock as well

Balaclava or face mask may be what you're really wanting. Light weight and keep your face from freezing.
