    Taking the plunge!

I've been lurking here a while and decided to give it a go and, gosh, am I excited.

Let me introduce myself. Grew up back east, loved the AT but as I've grown older those accidents and incidents have caught up with me. Now, I have been living on the front range of the Rockies with my wife for three years and though I will suffer through sleeping on the ground, I pay for my sporty youth. Let me say, there is some beautiful mountain country less than an hour away!!! But after one night, owwww, very discouraging.

Well I ordered a hammock, have the clothes, pads, bag, am requisitioning a tarp from an old tent, and expect to be out very soon-gonna attempt to conquer overnight 20's in a hammock in the Rockies, truck camping so I can bring anything I might need. Now I just have to wait for the hammock...patience Skippy, patience.

Let me take a sec to thank you for ALL your posts. I should be in good shape for my first time out thanks to you, and if not, ya'll have the answers.

Disc, both shoulders, arthritic all over from injuries, muscle wasting on one leg, even a penetrating wound into my body cavity about a year ago...that cold hard ground sure brings on the achey breakies.

NCP, I ordered a Cabela's double, seemed like a good place to start. Apparently comes with straps unlike the ENO and less expensive-seems like a good place to start. If things work out, there are others in my future. I wanted to make my own but Wally World only has non-descript material and none of it ripstop.

Tex, LOL. No but I like the sense of humor.
