Are you sure you have the correct cordage? I've never come across any green or red fibers running through the core of my amsteel or amsteel blue.

The Amsteel I bought in the group buy here a while back that Opie headed up had that in it. It's the same thing and Yes, You were suppose to pull the marker thread out.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to have this issue. I'll try again and pull the marker thread out first. I was hesitent because I thought I might be weakening the cord by doing so. Thank you
biggameken, I am no expert on Amsteel but I believe you have Amsteel II Plus.
Here is the link for the samson catalog explaining the diffences in the ropes.

No, it's the marker threads, pull it out. Amsteel 2 plus has two different colors of thread woven into the outer sheath with the inner braided cordage. The stuff he has, like the group buy grey material, has two groups of colored thread through the center. If you don't pull it initially it will bind up with everything. But it's easy enough to pull. Just cut your line to length, snag the marker threads and pull em out. Proceed as normal.
That worked Wahoo. Time to make more Whoopie Slings.
