make your own.... there are instructions in related articles on this site. You can get whatever colors float your boat. They are not hard to do if you can sew at all. Or have someone who does sew.

anyways, im wanting to hang i-bolts from studs in the ceiling, S hook, chain down, S hook again and then hook up the hammock. Completly possible, right? I figure i can even store the hammock mid-day if i want to! but i probably wont do that.

Hanging fasteners for an eight foot ceiling will be further apart than you probably imagine .... likely something around 20 ft apart.

i have eye bolts in the celing of our spare bedroom. it's a pretty small room, but i hang from corner to corner. the eyebolts are~ 87" high and 17' apart if that helps. it is harder though because you have to get the anchor in just the right spot or you won't be able to set it up right. have someone hold the other end of the hammock. you can both hold the end of the ropes, and hold it all the way up to the celing. make sure hammock has the sag you want and is the proper height off the floor and just mark those spots on the celing.

you can tie the ropes directly to the anchors you install, or if you want a lower connection point which you probably do, just use the rope you use for the hammock support rope and tie a caribiner to it. attach your hammock support line to the biner with a clove hitch or a slipped clove hitch.

i did a spotty room of measuring the room last night but it should work out. i'll probably be going from a corner to a wall side, skipping the next corner. i'll let you guys know how it works out

Maybe it's too late to modify your house to include hammocks; in Brasil ( I lived there for awhile ) not only are the big ol' cotton hammocks huge, for diagonal if not perpendicular sleeping, there are little boxes about every 5 feet, or so, apart along the walls. These boxes usually have some chain anchored and jammed in them. Typically the family has a bunch of hammocks stored; when the party starts to wind down, out come the hammocks where you hook yourself up and things resume more horizontally. That's how I was introduced to hammocks. Wish I could find those little boxes here in the states.

hi chris,

a sleep in a selfmade speer type hammock for 2 years now. almost every night, unless my girlfriend is in the house. no banana looks.

i don´t think i´ll move back to bed if i´m alone.
