    New Bridge Hammock done

This is my version of a Bridge hammock, I copied BER's cloud bridge and added 5% to it....I guess he had the same idea with his third bridge.

The spreader bars are made of steel broom handles with 1/2" PVC caps on the ends, while they are heavy they do a great job. I used 1" polypro folded in half and sewn in. I have 7/64" amsteel at the head triangle and 7 strand paracord for the foot triangle and 1/8" amsteel whoopie slings.
Doing the math I think the paracord will be strong enough at the foot end. I weigh 220 pounds that means each end needs to hold 110 pounds which means each side of the triangle is holding 55 pounds which is 10% of the weight limit of real paracord....right. Where am I wrong there?

Lays very flat, I can lay on my side perfectly and my wife says she would sleep in a hammock like this one!? I am still playing with the ridge line to get the best hang and my IX UQ works better on this then on my gathered end hammock....I am looking forward to taking this baby out to camp!

    Dimensions:

    Length: 86"
    Width at head: 48"
    Head spreader: 42"
    Head suspension triangle: 39"
    Arc depth: 6"
    Width at foot: 42'
    Foot spreader: 31"
    Foot suspension triangle: 29"

    Weights:

    tree huggers: 5.0 oz
Hammock with suspension & whoopie slings: 15.6 oz
Spreader bars and caps: 14.4 oz
Total weight: 35.0 oz. when I buy the light carbon spreader bars it will be 25oz

The UQ works way better with the lines over the 4 corners of the hammock.
Hang it high and God Bless!!

Looks good Vinnya42! Man, those bridges look like they lie flat.

they do and that isn't as flat as I can get it but it seems for now to be more comfy setup not quite as tight.

Lookin' Great Vince! Like how you fitted the under quilt. Did you make the UQ? And is that a single layer or double layer of fabric?

the UQ is 3 layers of IX with a top and bottom of 1.1oz ripstop.

The hammock is a single layer if 1.9oz ripstop.

I keep looking at the way you did your under quilt. <sigh> I might have to make another hammock now with a single layer and get me an UQ.

    Enabler or co-dependent?

We are all on this DIY addiction together...lets share the crazy. I use the bottom cut off of a 1 gallon denaturared alcohol can for my cooking pot because it is DIY, even though it is the same weight as my store bought cooking pot??

I used the plans in the Sticky thread. I followed it exactly, works really well and is very comfortable.

What do you plan on doing for bug protection?

...using my old bug net (drape over sides with weights on the corners) and putting doors at the ends to seal me in. Here in Colorado our bugs are not that aggressive so we can get away with a simple design.
