Wanted to say hello to all. Also thank you for all the great info. I literally stumbled upon this site a couple years back after procuring a batch of rip stop nylon from Wally World and was trying to find a way to "alter" it into something more useful. The reason for my procurement and subsequent googling expedition - I had been with a group of friends on a multi day kayak trip and all had hammocks- except for me. Wasn't envy by any means, just the realization that we were all near, at or over 40+ yrs and it took me (being the yougest in this group) the longest to get the kinks all worked out after crawling out of my ground bound torture chamber. After 25 yrs of backpacking I just thought it was a part of getting o-l-d (never!). Been lurking here and hanging a hammock ever since. Thanks to all for the wonderful info! I do keep the tent as a loaner though, sorry...
