    Looking Glass Rock 10/16

Went to Pisgah National Forest and hiked up to Looking Glass Rock this weekend. Stayed the first night up at the top of the rock, then the second night hiked back down and stayed next to the river. The weather was perfect and the views were unbelievable. Here is the link to my album:

    Thanks for the great pics!

We also spent that weekend in Pisgah with friends of our's. It was definitely a great weekend. Didn't get into the backcountry so much as our friends (family of 5) were new to the camping scene. We stayed at Davidson River Campground. They set up their new Wal-Mart tent, sleeping bags, Coleman air matresses, Dicks Sporting Goods chairs, stove, all other basic camping gear. Then. . . we got that look

Up went the WBBB with Superfly and 3 HH Expeds.

His wife looked at him and he responded with... "They must be serious campers" . I responded with... "Yup. And comfy campers too!"

Muskrat I received that look quite often from folks as they hiked up to the rock! Some would actually stop and take a second look, and I know they were thinking "where the heck is his tent???" I just laugh to myself and lay back in the comfort of the hammock.

Every time I tell people that I use a hammock, they ask why I carry something so heavy, made out of rope...I have to keep from laughing at them. I keep pictures of my setup on my phone to explain it...

That is a great way to spend time. Not just in comfort, but giving the ground dwellers something to aspire to, "elevate their perspective" if you will.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
