New Hampshire trip - November 12-13th

Planning a New Hampshire overnight on a local hiking website and want to extend the invite to any interested parties here on HF.

We're hoping for a Journey to the Unknown - specifically a trip to Unknown Pond, a backcountry campsite in the Northern White Mountains.

We will also be planning an optional trip to Unknown Pond Peak, a New Hampshire Hundred Highest peak and a relatively easy bushwhack from the pond.

The trip is about 3.3 miles and 1500' of elevation gain to Unknown Pond. The bushwhack probably adds less than a mile (RT) and 400' gain.

It'd be nice to meet some New England hammock hangers, and I'm sure if we have any ground sleepers with us, they'll be pretty decent for 'ground folk'.

Plenty of pretty woods and peakbagging opportunities in the area for those looking on a longer trip.

    Any takers?

That's beautiful country - too bad I am now 1000 miles away.
    Have fun!

How do you hang with your dogs? Do they hang or are they on the ground?
I was told there'd be no math on this exam. ~T.D.

They sleep under my hammock and under my Superfly. There is plenty of room. I sometimes bring a PL for them to use as a bed, but they usually don't use it. They just curl up and go to sleep...although Hunter stays on guard duty all night and makes sure nothing gets close to camp...even the owls!

I'm hoping to get Graham to hang but we'll see. He can make some interesting choices when he's not being directly supervised. I like the guard idea though.

Yeah, he does guard! I use an Ursak, but as long as I bring my dogs I really don't have to worry about anyone or anything getting to close to my food. He makes noises like Chewbacca when he is happy and growls very loud when someone approaches. He is very friendly, but he can be intimidating to those who don't know the odd noises he makes.

I love that about dogs, only you really know what all the sounds mean.

Unfortunately, I am out of this trip. I would have really liked to go, but my wife (SWMBO) has a previously planned trip and I am on baby duty that weekend.
