    Hammocking in France

So my wife and have been home for a couple of weeks now and I am finally sorting through the some 2000 pictures we have of our 10 year belated trip to France.

We lived out of out backpacks and road the trains all over the country, and when I mean all over I mean all over. We started and ended in Paris...but went in a big circle around the whole country. I will spar you all the tons of pics, and might put together some thematic photo album to share...but I figure I had to keep it Hammock related or at least outdoorsy....right.

Just to give a quick run down, it went sort of like this Paris, Versailles, Chamonix, Arles, Avignon, Marseille, Acs de Provence, Carcassonne, Amboise, Montmarte (Mulan Rouge) We stayed 2-5 days at each place depending.
My favorite places were Paris and Chamonix.

Of course I did not take a hammock but was looking for something to work as one, just so I could post it here.

So here goes...they were these sculptures at Versailles that I thought would make a great hammock pic. So I forced my wife to take a pic of me.

Does this count as "extreme hammocking?" Maybe I'll enter it into the contest

Heading up to Aguille Du Midi...which is a way point for Mt. Blanc...just google Chamonix or Mt. Blanc and I am sure you can see even better pics then what I took..but are a a few, just for the gist of it.

Here is what we did a lot of

    and

So there it is a super short TR. Basically I just wanted to post the hammock picture I did find an urban ground dweller....But I can't post the pic...maybe I am over my limit on pics for a post...Guess I'll make a part two

Brings back memories. For people my age and a little older who had the privilege to afford university, it was "de rigeur" to take the summer after graduation off, for a backpacking trip through Europe.

Eurail pass, Let's Go Europe guidebook, IYHF hostel pass, sleeping sheets, and travellers' cheques (remember those?) in a secret waist belt.

Nice to see you do it again in the same style. Awesome pics, not because they are spectacular (though your Alps shots are) but because they show the way you were living for a few weeks. Thank you.

If you only knew my wife. She likes car camping with the hammocks, and she likes to go for walks in the woods, but to get her out and actually backpack for even just a weekend is a no go.
But she wasn't going to "carry all that crap" all over Europe, so we took our backpacking clothes that were wash and wear type clothing, and some other gear as well and away we went. She was a real trooper. Her pack came in at 15 pounds and mine was 17pounds so not too bad if you ask me.
