NC-RDU-Bull City Hang

Wanted to put a feeler out there to see if there is sufficient interest in a capital city area North Carolina group hang. I know there are a good number of hangers in the RDU/RTP area and it seems that another local joins up every other day.

There are several options in the area from Car Camping at Falls Lake, Walk in camping at Falls and Jordan lakes, even "Hike-In" camping at Eno River. Obviously group size and accessibility are two major concerns and will limit where we would be able to host a hang. Any group activities such as hiking, paddling, cookout, etc would also play a part in determining a hang location.

I was thinking February or March would allow everyone sufficient time to plan and tweak setups for some cool weather. Also I don't beleive there are any hangs currently planned in the region for either of those months. (I could be completely wrong though and fully admit to that.) So who is up for a hot time in cold NC?

I am interested. Check Umstead State Park for possible hang sites.

Grew up in Durham.

Umstead is certainly a possibility as well. It just tends to get a bit crowded on weekends is my only concern.

I live too far away to do it but I recommend someone in the area check out Falls Lake and Umsted for a group camp site and see if they have to the potenial for a group hang.

I should be able to check out both Falls Lake and Umstead for group hang potential. I know that Eno and Jordan have some good group hang spots that are walk in. Jordan has car camping as well, but I haven't been out there before, I may be able to get out there this week as well.

I'll grab the camera and try to tour around the various sites available to give people and idea of what is available.

You can get an idea of the Jordan Lake walk in sites if you look at the pics from my overnight there about a month ago.

I'm in. This is worth the drive from the Outer Banks.

BTW, its a bit of a drive for most of you, but let me throw out Merchants Millpond as a possible site.
