South Carolina guys, I need a suggestion?

Hey guys, I am wanting to go somewhere with a couple of my buddies here at work but we are wanting somewhere fairly new. Somewhere we haven't been before. We would like somewhere either within 30-45 mins of Greenville, with a little hike (30- 45 min hike) or somewhere 1hr or close with little to no hike. We do not want to set up in the dark. If any of you guys no somewhere close then let me know. I have some new equipment I want to try out in a real situation besides the backyard.

Crowder's Mountain near King's mountain would probably fit those requirements.

Table Rock / Caesar's Head also.

Hike north along the Chatooga from Burrells Ford to the bridge over the East Fork. There is a multitude of hanging opportunities just before you cross the bridge. It's about a 30-45 minute easy hike from the trailhead.

Copied from the Upstate South Carolina 2011 Fall Hang(Thanks swampfox)

There you go, just what I was thinking, Burrells Ford, good parking, space pooper and an easy walk up stream to gorgeous views.

Or go in at Sloan Bridge to Ellicott Rock Wilderness, nice site by Indian Camp Branch creek about 2.1 miles in from parking area.

I agree with these two, can't go wrong with Burrell's Ford!

There are a lot of good suggestions here.
Jones Gap was my first thought. It's about a 45 min drive from Greenville and has some great hiking. A campsite will cost you $16 and can be reserved on-line. Site # 6 is my favorite, # 7 would be my second choice. # 4 is great if you want to be a little farther from civilization and are hanging. It's got a little slope to it but if you're hanging, it won't matter. It's close to running water.

Start at Sloans Bridge on the Foothills Trail and go east toward Whitewater Falls. It's about 90 min from G'ville, but there are some beautiful views of Bad Creek reservoir.

Start at Whitewater Falls and hike the loop to the west. A lot of good hanging in there but only one "desgnated" camping area because it's on the NC side.

    Where have you already been?

I love the Burrells Ford area, but within 30-45min of Greenville, You have to go with a few lesser known spots: around Camp Old Indian, for instance.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have been to burrels ford, Paris Mt., and whitewater falls all within the last few months. I am interested in giving the Raven Cliff falls but not this weekend. Has anyone gone up the palmetto trail. I think we may try to grab a portion of it and find a good spot to hang.

Since you haven't done Jones Gap, now is the time.
