Another +1 on the night sky.
As I was reading before the hammock pic, I was thinking hanging between the pop-up and the truck. I like your solution better because your staying true and at least using 1 tree. Not that anything less isn't true, but trees are good. Next time hang inside the pop-up bunk bed style over the couch
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I'm going on a 1/2 day hike for my little girls b-day to Hontoon Island later today. Her idea for a hike and she is 6
I'll nap in the hammock while the kids play a little after hike and will try a trip report later. Will be a long day after a long night.

raiffnuke, saw your signature(H.Y.O.H.) and struck my funny(Very tired). I thought to myself, hang your own hammock. Was thinking someone had you hanging their hammocks.

So my friends and I were talking about that on the last day, mostly we were wondering about redesigning the pop-up entirely to accomodate more hammocks and how it would probably make it lighter and could (in theory) hold more people.

Becareful with the load cap. on the roof not to stress too much. Also, you don't want it to look like a clown car with 35 hangers walking out in a line.

    Hi there Werespaz,

First let me just say, I feel your pain!” Well, at least I felt pain when I read that you ripped your tarp. On your first hang no less! It is ever so very much worth finding a spot to hang and if that can’t be done, do what you did and make one. I’m still traumatized by the time I spent at the Binna Burra Lodge, in a bed, instead of my perfectly good hammock. If I have to, I’ll plant a tree and wait for it to grow, before I go to ground. It was a big first hang challenge for you and you pasted it in a way that did all of us here at hammock forums proud! A hard spot to hang and a ripped tarp... things can only get better for you from now on! The photos are great! Lots of stars and a big hill with snow on the top.

Thats the way to think outside the truck bed. nice way to adapt and overcome. Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement. I will say this, hammock camping has got me more excited about camping and backpacking than anything else since I got started as a Boy Scout 25 years ago. It's actually even getting me to reconsider my vow to avoid winter backpacking I made last year!
