Hi everyone. I am new to the group and new to hammocking. Just want to say that this seems to be a great place to learn about the subject. Just got an HH Expedition Asym and I am going to make a KAQ. What is confusing me a bit is if you need to use a pad inside the hammock when using an underquilt. Thanks to all for the good info.

No need to use a pad if you use the underquilt in temps it's rated for. A pad can extend the range of your underquilt, though.

Folks often carry a small piece of CCF as a sit pad or as the framesheet for their backpack, though. Since you're already carrying it, it works great as additional insulation in case a cold spot develops.

Thanks Jeff. I'll take the CCF under consideration.

hey yall, i apologize for slacking off on the hammocking 101 article.
been trying to get several other things accomplished (most of it hammocking/backpacking).
i also began to get a little stumped or something. maybe it's writer's block... but can you get that after writing only half a page
maybe i can finish what i had in mind then let frolicking dino spruce it up so others can take a look.
but then it may only serve as a starting place for someone else to make it more complete. ...tim
