For Diva, PapaSmurf and anyone else that has made one...I can understand why you would leave one end wide to slide over you, but would it work if you made it about 1/2 - 2/3 as wide as normal?

My logic is, that opening should only matter as you're sliding it over you, not once it's completely in place. If it's smaller but you can still get it to slide over, it would be a little more form-fitting and maybe shave off an ounce or so. Have you tried that?

Forgive me if this has already been asked, buy why not make a sock like the TED Bug Net?

Our's slides over the top of our ridge line, and I actually wouldn't want it to be smaller on the wide end, because as it is, I have to sort-of sit up and kind of maneuver it over and under the middle part of the hammock. With that said, maybe it is a few inches smaller but not a lot, because once that end is over, it is smooth sailing. I might have accidentally and unknowingly sewed in a bit more as the material was slippery and I don't pin....yet all three fit the same

.....DARN IT! I'll just leave my realization all intact since it's quite funny at my expense. The hammock tapers.....dah! I would not make your wide end much smaller, it has to be able to go around the widest portion of the hammock while you are in it, and UQ are on it with a little extra room in that widest area so that it doesn't affect your diagonal lay or compress your insulation. Good Lord Almighty, that all took me a while Did this paragraph make since?

Yea....I'm back. Hope I do better this time around

I was going to do the TED style with the sock and I'm really glad that I didn't. This is my personal preference to have the sock style because I can lay there on cool nights with the sock drawn up to neck level helping to keep my lower body warmer while I just look around, watch and listen to the night sounds. Then when it gets colder....or I'm about to fall asleep, I'll slide it on up and pull the draw cord shut. Some times it can take me awhile to get to sleep, so having this ability is really a plus. Again, this was my preference and my son and mother are happy theirs was done the same and not like the TED bugnet...which I love as a bugnet.

If you had a removable ridgeline you could probably do this. Otherwise, it might be difficult to slide it over the deepest portion of the hammock.

DivaB might have said the same thing, but I'm not sure.

I don't think I added that, and if I had tried at that point (pre-nap) who knows what it would have sounded like?

Well I ordered a Winter Sock from PapaSmurf. Can't wait to get it and start testing it out.
