    Silnylon in cold weather

Hi, was out night in minus temps and noticed today when packing up that where i had sealed the ridgeline seam the silnet is peeling off ( i assume because of low temps)
is sealing the ridgeline something we should do on an annual basis (sorry for newbie question)

I think colder temps can make the seam sealer more brittle which can cause it to separate when you fold the tarp. I usually reseal my main tarp every year or so but I think it depends on use. Other tarps and tents that don't get used as much I only reseal if I notice it coming off or I notice leaks.

Are you sure you used the right seam sealant? There are some for silnylon and others PU-coated tarps etc.

Then the next question is, are you sure that your tarp is made of a pure silnylon? If it is coated with e.g. a mix of PU and silicone (like Silpoly), that might explain the problem as well. I have never seen silicone come off when used on silnylon. People even use it to glue on tarp panel pulls or repair holes.
