Just found this hammock-related meme on reedit...

I thought the hammock-folk might find this entertaining.

If you don't get it, it's a reference to a computer game...a great one, incidentally, one of the few that I'd consider as qualifying as "art", but that's another story

Is that Portal? I've never played, but I'm familiar with the game concept (my brother-in-law absolutely loves it).

One way or the other, one of those portal guns would revolutionize hanging. No trees? No indoor set up? No problem!

I'll put it on the Christmas wish-list, and see what happens
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Yeah, all you need is two walls...heck, you don't even need suspension, just tied each end of the hammock to the other end!

    I love Portal! Insanely addicting.

Honestly though, it is harder to find to solid walls in Mn that it is to find trees. The walls would have to be a perfect distance too.

However, I could leave a blue portal next to my fridge and then shoot an orange one whenever I wanted some fresh goodies. Then my pack weight would be insanely low!

Haha, hardly...it went pretty mainstream. Now Angband or Dwarf Fortress...THOSE are the trademark of a nerd.

I also had not thought of how useful a portal gun would be for backpacking. I wouldn't carry anything at all except snacks and water...I'd just bring in my camping gear from home each night!

And yeah, actually I guess the "hammock tied to itself" setup wouldn't really work in the woods.

A portal gun would reduce the need to send yourself bounce boxes. And with a gravity gun you could just shoot your pack to the next campsite! Awesome.

When you've got creative prop makers in the family it is amazing what you can find on the kitchen table:
