I sew grossgrain loops at the corners and run the suspension lines going to the hammock ends or ridge line through the loops and it just hangs there.

I really like the CS HL. I have put together several quilts from the HL and only one from the Apex. When I made the one from the Apex I was just getting into the DIY addiction and had some issues working with it (more me than the material for sure). The Apex comes in 5.0 oz/yard and the HL is 3.3, 6.0 and 11.7 oz/yard from OWF - they are out of stock of the 9.4oz material. That being said, the HL has more temp options than the Apex just due to the thicknesses available. The Apex has less drape than the HL. The HL is more conforming I think than the Apex allowing it to shape to the end of the hammock if you will be using a gathered end style UQ like I have been making (but really not too much difference from what I remember). I think the HL is more compressible from what I've read (or made up in my head) but then again you are talking two different weights/yard.

All in all, I like working with the HL. But that is just me.

When using IX below freezing, it works best when it's between you and your other insulation, because it's a vapor barrier. When you put IX on the outside, condensation stays in your insulation and will likely freeze.

I'm going the Down UQ route with a hammock sock for temps below freezing.

I did happen to make a UQ out of a softie merlin sleeping bag and hung my 3 layer IX underneath. It got down to 26F and I woke up cold, but I never checked to see if there was any condensation.

Anyway, I read your post on the hammock socks, lots of great info. Thanks MacEntyre.
