Home made down quilt @420g, and UQ@250g

I recently made this quilt and UQ from Momentum 90 and 900 loft down. Made each in an afternoon/evening.

Quilt weight 420g, with 5cm baffles, and 200g of 900 loft down, and an even 5-6 cm loft. Foot box made using drawer cord across the bottom, and 3 press-studs over 18" along the lower sides to hold them together (could also use zipper)

UQ is a minimalist tapered design that attaches to my HH with 6 press-studs (one side are fixed, and the other side are on short sections of elastic, to provide some "give", when moving in the hammock). Separate elastic drawer cords on the edges and top to tighten/loosen as required. UQ 160cm long (ie may need foot pad), and about 250g (100g 900 loft down), again about 5cm loft. The picture shown has lots of string - it was taken before I finalised the attachments to the hammock.

Both comparatively easy and cheap projects.

Great looking quilts, Andrewallan. Love the bright red color! You'll never lose or confuse those with someone else's gear.

Looks great, AA!!! Are you glad you have the short shock cords on the one half of the underquilt? I would have thought that, once the underquilt was around the hammock, you wouldn't really need any "give". I'd like to modify my Flamethrower underquilt to attach to the sides via grosgrain ties or press studs. Should I plan on including some stretchiness?

Not sure whether the stretch is really needed, but it adds no signifanct weight, and I would rather have it than find out that I needed it!
