    DIY Tarp Grip Clips

DIY Tarp grip clips used to pull sides of tarp out. Removeable and moveable. Put them wherever you need them.

Tie 80lb mono to a quarter sized button using albright knot.
Place button on outside of tarp where you want tie out.
Push button through paperclip which is on other side of tarp.
    Voila.
I removed the inner bends of paper clip and covered with duct tape so there would not be any pointy edges to poke thru tarp.

Pictures show finished product, product deployed with mono loop ready to attach line to, product deployed seen from inside tart and the albright knot.

Neat idea - have you used them in serious wind yet? I'd be afraid the paperclip would bend and let the button escape, with some of the crazy wind I've seen pulling on my grip clips. If these hold in the wind, they would be a lot lighter alternative, that's for sure!

I'm going to play w/ them now. I have not used them in the wind. I want a strong hard plastic oval ring for the final version. Maybe a snap wring. Any ideas?

The paperclip came from a brainstorming conversation. I kept saying I need something shaped like a paperclip to make. Prototype. My friend finally suggested ----- a paperclip

You could just push the button thru from the inside and tie the line around the button/material bundle on the outside. Skip the paperclip altogether.

Edit: Maybe tie a small bright line to the button for easier finding.

a humble idea for your consideration

What about using a small mitten hook instead of the paperclip? If you get a good quality one, it wouldn't bend out of shape (and let go) like a wire can. And there's an eye to tie on to.

I played with it some today.

Mustardman, the paper clip held, but it is not nearly strong enuf.

Gargoyle, I have used the "small stone" method before. I felt it gathered too much fabric. When I looked today, I do think the paperclip method gathers less fabric.

    Timberr, what's a mitten hook.

Overall, I like the design. I think I am going to wander hardware stores and craft stores until I find what I need. (Unless the mitten hook works out)
