I can niether confirm, nor deny any sudden graviational pulls on me or my hammock. All I can say is pics or it didn't happen, and I have no pics of any such incident.

I did the same thing! I had just finished my DIY bug net so I was going to do my first overnighter in the hammock in the back yard. At bed time I went out and was putting my bag and everything in the hammock and got completely swarmed by mosquitoes. In my rush to get in the net and sealed off from the hoards I did what you did and was laughing so hard that my dog came over to find out what the heck was going on.

I came within inches of doing this with my Hennessy side-entry model the first time I tested out the PLUQ. Since using the tie-outs with the PLUQ is problematic right now, I was getting into the Hennessy for the first time without using them. Trust me, even if they aren't structurally load-bearing, they do make a difference for your balance reference point!
I sat down too far into the hammock (where the netting and hammock body meet), and if hadn't been for the netting and a youth spent throwing myself off of high places with wheels strapped to my feet, I'd've wound up hitting the ground hard. As it was, I just barely grabbed the opposing edge and managed to swing my legs down hard enough to avoid a half-gainer in the wrong direction.
Another time, I almost sat into the PLUQ rather than the hammock. Only a second glance saved me (to be fair, this one was Before Coffee).
I'm with ya, on the pre-hike from last spring mahha on the AT. I was set up on a gentle hill. Woke up in the morning, grabbed my trail socks to change into since my shoes were still wet. When getting back in the hammock I had grabbed rthe back side of the fabric and flip, did a backwards flip and started rolling down the hill, haha. I crawled back up quickly to avoid getting my cooton sleep socks wet and looked to see if MML or sweetbabyD saw me, then went on my way, haha.
More times than I will ever admit in public.
Trust nobody!
Yeap, all of the above.

Thanks guys - feel much better now!
I'm still a little uneasy about that marlin spike hitch but I managed to sleep last night. I did take it easy on the rocking and moving around, worried that the extra torque would snap the toggle, but I'm sure I'll get over it soon and learn to trust the knot.
Side note: While I had the original BB adjustable straps off I decided to weight them to compare to the whoopie set up. Looks like I'll be running with a third of the weight using whoopies saving about 170 grams (about 5.5 oz for the metrically challenged) I admit a lot of that weight comes from the biners I had to use with the BB so your set up might be lighter
Read my siggie at the bottom, whoopie without a taper at bury (which indicates a potential weakness in the whoopie anyway), there is a bulge at the end of the bury.... tends to come into contact at a critical point.... in my DIY stand, it was abraiding against lumber, and next thing you know, posterior meets concrete, I'm just glad my stand is a non-center rail type, which could have severed more than my pride.
But as stated before, no pics- no happen. So maybe I imagined it all?
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

This thread reminds me of when I took a motorcycle class. The instructor said there are two types of riders: those who have fallen and those that will.
I fell but there wasn't anyone around to see or hear it thus no pics. So, did I really fall then...?
