    I miss you........

Sometimes it tough being me. A few years ago I thought I would never sleep on the ground again. I found hammock camping, and knew it was for me. It made so much sense. I ran out and purchased, modified, played with, tweeked, insulated, hung, and hung, and hung, and......... uh oh.

After trying to train myself with weekly overnight hangs in the fire bay, backyard, and such, I couldn't get myself to sleep comfortably through the night. Even now I still try it out again and again, but when it comes to falling asleep I just hang there...... awake. I'm a wiggler, and a tosser and turner. Maybe someday I'll figure it out, but not yet.

The worst part about realizing I'm a tenter is hammockforums.net. I've grown to really love this community. I went on hangs, made new friends, watched all the videos and learned from those willing to teach. there is no place here for all the other aspects of the outdoors which I love and want to share. I miss you.

Last week I went out on an overnight and for the first time in two years didn't bring a hammock. It was actually on accident. I still like to hang out during the day, then sleep on the ground, but I just left it at the Firehouse by mistake. When I got home and made a video about my trip, I realized I couldn't share it with the people I want to share it with the most.... you.

This isn't hammock camping, and I assume this will be taken from the site like other posts I've made that didn't specifically identify with hammocks, but I am going to try and share this great trip I had.

Thanks for the tip, tricks, and good times, and When I learn to hang, I'll be back.

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

Hey Arson. Nice to see you again. I really appreciate you talking about the safety factors and kayaking in colder weather,,,something not everyone thinks about. Also really like your trash ethic. Thanks for sharing.

I can see a whole new sub-forum developing...Kayak Hammocking. Now, to figure out how to make a stand for a hammock in a kayak (creating another sub-sub-forum, DIY Kayak Hammocking).
    Nice video...for a ground-dweller :-P

As long as you can lounge in a hammock, you're still part of the forum. Whether or not you can sleep in it doesn't matter.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that had trouble sleeping in a hammock.

It took me a long time to be able to sleep in a hammock, and it's because I toss and turn so much. I find I sleep better on cold nights where the chill air puts my head to sleep...but on warm nights, forget about it.

Arson, as long as you figured out what works for you, that's what counts.

hey, good to see you back again Arson.
Truth of the matter is that I sleep better at home in my bed than I do in a hammock out camping. A statement that might get me kicked out of here! But then I sleep a lot better in that hammock than on the ground... (maybe I get to stay now...)

but shoot, this is a fine place to post your gear reviews, no matter where you sleep on the trail. Ah, so long as they aren't tent reviews, that might push the mods over the edge.

Thanks for the video. I really like watching your stuff and have subscribed to your youtube channel. Have you ever tried anything but an ENO? I almost gave up on hammocking all together after fussing with my only hammock (a ENO doublenest) for over a year. I sleep much better in other hammocks although I really dont get much sleep in them. I lay awake all night long and have gone back to tents to solve my problems...to find the same results...so I went back to hammocks figuring I might as well be comfortable while laying awake all night!
