    Thanks

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Unfinished dimensions - This quilt is made to fit someone who is 6'4" and the original length for the top shell was 83" and the inner shell was 81". Width was 57" at head, 42" at foot. Hems took up 1.5" on each side.

Baffles were 3" before sewing and 2" after they were sewn to the inner/outer shell. I filled them by sewing three sides of the quilt shut and then stuffing each one manually(sort of). I put several ounces of down into a box and then stuff a tube full of down by hand. Then, take that tube & put most of it into the baffle, then push the down out with a plastic rod I had laying around. Very scientific! Kinda hard to explain. If not clear I can take pics.

Indeed, you are a good friend and a good quilt-maker as well. Congrats to your friend for his accomplishment. Congrats to you for being both thoughtful and generous! I guess you both are coming out of this pretty good!

Ha! Vols are having a tough time last few years. We got used to winning a lot of football games every year, and now we can't hardly beat anybody. God forbid we lose to KY or Vandy!

Awesome job on the quilt, and you are a great friend and I am sure he will appreciate it very much! I know the gifts that I have received from my friends are very special and dear to my heart, so I can only imagine how he will feel about this gift!

That is a sweet TQ - the next item on my list.

Congratulations to your friend. I have 248.8 miles done on the same quest - how long did it take him to finish? I dread the Sugarlands Trail as well.

    Roche-

It took him several years mainly because he wasn't trying to complete them all. Then one day he was like "Well, I've hiked 500 miles of them, it would be cool to finish them all." It took him 4 years after that "Aha" moment. He only works three days a week so he has a little more time to get out there.

There are a few of us from Knoxville on this site. We need to get together and do a Smokies trip sometime. We can coordinate it to help you cover some more miles on your quest.
