Has anyone ever tried making a double layer HH style hammock so you could slide a pad in between? Would this be a worthwhile thing to try?

To Boldly Hang Where No One Has Hung Before...
thats basically the same thing as the undercover and underpad thats sold on the HH site
do you mean double layer with bottom entry?
I think is something worth looking into. Another excuse to make a hammock....
How about sewing the two together at the slit, so the pad would have something to go around when you inserted it from the top, like saddling up on a horse...
do you guys think it would be possible to add a second layer to the HH. Like basically just sew on a second bottom?

Where would I find more info about a "split asym pad". Sounds like something I would be interested in.
There is no such critter right now, to my knowledge. The idea is just being talked about.

Yep. I made a double layer HH clone. All I did was make a risk zHammock and use the HH whipping method layeed out be HC4U in his HH clone instructions. Although I didin't make a bottim entry, I just used the whipping method. Not to say it couldn't be do. In fact I dont think it would to difficult to do. As for the pad, a Gossamer Gear 1/4 wide thinlight with a silt cut in it for the bottom entry would be doable.

I tried adding another layer on the bottom of my netless Scout. It didn't work out too well, and later, I ended up removing it.
Without the netting, I sewed the slit closed. I added the fabric layer on, "boxing" the corners a bit to leave room for a pad.
I had a lot of problems getting things to cooperate!
I think you might be better off just making a double layered hammock, such as a Zhammock, rather than trying to add fabric on.
It may work for you, but it sure didn't for me !
