I have a 50' storage building that will become my storage gear area, ut we are currently renovating the house, so the building is full. I'm not sure when the renovations will be completed, seems like my one year plan is turning into five. I sure will be happy when I get my building back for gear storage. For now, everything is in rubbermaid containers, stacked up with everything else.

This is where I am now. We are moving and this is the gear explosion I am working with. I didn't want to show the mess I am trying to arrange but thought it might start more pics to come through!

Please excuse the quality (not sure if I did this on purpose as to further hide my mess!).

And this isn't everything - only a taste!

Soon it will be organized (hopefully). Oh yes, she will be organized.

I've got backpacks in the garage in a canvas bag. Also have stoves and lanterns and most car camping gear in bins out there as well. I recently claimed a few shelves in a spare closet for most backpacking gear, "organized" in boxes that are turned sideways so I can stack them and access everything in them. One of the boxes is a 12 pack beer bottle with the cardboard separator still inside, which makes 12 nice little shelves for smaller stuff to be organized. I hang a couple of sleeping bags in this closet. I the laundry room I have put a shower curtain rod almost at the ceiling, which I use to hang more sleeping bags- these I cover with an old sheet to keep lint and dust off them. No pics, but you get the ideas I've used to "organize".

You know it - It's great for hanging gear! But I do use it still - just got to take the time to take the quilts down - ha!

My wife wants that room, when I drop dead that stuff will be on ebay in a about 10 seconds. She doesn't see the humor in three action packers filled with backpacking stoves.

maybe suggest that some of the upstairs closets would be a good palace to put your 'sewing' supplies..all ladies have sewing supplies, right? alternately if he never uses it he probably won't notice if you box up the stuff in just one closet and move it to the basement... choose wisely!
