    Black Bishop Bag & Straps

What do you do with your tree straps when using a Black Bishop Bag? I made a setup, but didn't really include room inside the bag for the tree straps since I dont have my ideal straps yet. It seems like keeping them inside is nice because everything is in one container. At the same time, having them outside the bag seems better for getting the straps up before letting your hammock out if its protection (so you don't drop it in mud/dust/water/food).

Any brilliant ideas? I have some thoughts kicking around, but have no experiance with the concept yet. Really looking for things I missed in the setup process, or other related tidbits.

The original Blackbishop bags had a noseeum pocket on the end for your straps. I'm not sure what kind you have.

I sewed a pocket on the outside of my bb.

Same. I then sewed another small pocket for two stakes for my WBBB tieouts

I have the kind that you sew yourself when you have scraps laying around and think "aw, what the hell." It will work, but I can tell I'll need a side pocket or something.

I didn't look at the original plans, I just threw one together from seeing the concept. Made one of the bugnet (papasmurf style), then one that holds the bugnet and the hammock.

These are some pictures of the BB bag I made. I sewed it big enough so that I could get my hammock, tq, tree huggers, and stakes into it. It is about 15" high, the diameter is about 7", and the circumference is 26". I made the pockets out of one piece of fabric, just sewn across. The pocket that faces up is 3" x 8.25" and holds 6 stakes. The other pocket is 'upside down' so that I can just tuck that whoopie sling into it. It measures 3" x 3.25". The whole thing fits perfectly into the bottom of my 44L Talon. Hope this helps!

That looks pretty sweet. Do you have a piece of shock cord across the top of the stake pocket? Or did you run the draw cord through there? It looks bunched up in that picture. I used velcro and I'm not a huge fan of it.

Thanks! I just used a small piece of elastic on both ends of the pocket--just enough tension to keep everything from falling out.
