I just finished a 12 foot tarp (pics coming) using silnylon. If you decide to go that route I have a pattern that I drew out for making a hex shaped with canterary cut sides, like blackbishop's tarp.

Sometime in the next month or so, I'll be putting complete plans for my tarp on my website - that is, if I won't be stepping on Brian's toes!

I'll be sure to at least link to them here, if not post them in the directions section.

If that's all you're making, get some from www.speerhammocks.com. Otherwise, check here for a list of suppliers.

No problem. But don't forget you'll be paying shipping...buying a yard or two of cheap fabric isn't very cheap if you factor in shipping. Might be worth buying several yards so you'll have some on hand for future projects.

And don't forget - you can use any $1/yd material for prototyping the design. Then make the real deal from the silnylon.

From some google searching of images, I beleive that mystery fabric to be ripstop polyester, and Ive bought some from wallys mart as well.

hammock of it has held up well to a few nights of my 180lb self sprawling around in it.

here is one link that seems similar.

    http://www.alibaba.com/productsearch...r_Ripstop.html

Ive also seen Frolicking Dinos post a link that shows ripstop polyester that is identical to what Ive bought at wallymart recently.

Welcome to the forum. For what its forth, don't go off of what any sales person tells you about sil-nylon, DWR nylon, or regular ripstop nylon. They may have the best of intensions, but for what we need they really do not know that much.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
