    Wife's first hang

Made it out to Hawn State Park (MO) for an overnighter last night. It was my wife's first backpacking trip AND first overnight hang. We hung from the same 2 trees via the "webbing on opposite sides of the tree" method, which I should point out needs a better name. I used my new DIY hammock, and she used a GTUL. The weather was perfect; low 60's during the day and 48 at night. The fall colors were out in full force!

This is about as piney as the woods get around here.

After wrestling with a pad all night, my wife is finally convinced of my need for an underquilt That's her in the hat hiding from the camera (due to bed head)

And nobody said backpacking can't be stylish!

Great pictures and amazing colors. We have leaves that change here in Texas too - green to brown.

Glad to hear the trip was a good one!

Yes indeed, we both were. Wide, warm, flexible, and $13. Not bad for a pad.

I was there at the same time. I am sorry I missed you. I was with a group from Backwoods in St.Louis and I was going to stay and hang, but there were so many people in the park and no one else from the hike wanted to stay the night, I just went home and hung in my backyard.
which campsite did you hang out in?

A fellow hanger in the same woods! Can't believe we missed each other. No campsite; just the woods off the Whispering Pines trail. It was crazy crowded in the parking lots, but we only passed a few folks out on the trail.

I wasn't aware of Backwoods St. Louis; looks fun!

Way to get the wife out. I'm slowly working on getting my wife out more doing over night trips in the hammock and one of her favorite things about hammocking is the TQ/UQ. Once you get your wife wrapped in some downy goodness she'll never want to get up.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
