    Panthertown Overnighter Nov. 12

I just transferred to Western Carolina and have been meaning to check out Panthertown, and the (albeit extended) forecast is calling for 60 and sunny for the weekend of the 12th. I'll be headed out solo Saturday morning for a low mileage overnighter just to get a feel for the area. Figured I'd throw something up here to see if anyone would be interested in joinin me.

No, I had to Google to see where that is at.
I see it's near Panthertown Valley. Have you been there?

If you're thinking about going up through the canyon at Bonas' Defeat, make sure you stop in at the powerhouse first. They control the dam release and they can let you know when the next release is. You do not want to be in there when the alarm starts to go off, or if it starts raining hard.

Panthertown is a great place. Make sure you pick up the Slickrock Expeditions trailmap. It's better than the Nat Geo or USFS maps.

No, I havn't been in, and iv heard you dont want to be in there anytime there may be water. Apparently its an epic scramble pickin your way through. Stork, are there people in the pumphouse just m-f or 7 days a week? Picked that map up and love it.

Check out the upper SC hang the same weekend - from Cullowhee I believe it's just a 45 minute or so drive. Are you a student at Western Carolina?

They've been there on Saturday's, but I can't speak for Sundays. I suppose they would also be there on Sunday, as well.

There are some great places in the valley to camp. Between Panthertown Valley Trail and Granny Burrell Falls Trail, the is a large pine forrested area that is nice for hanging. I've also camped at Schoolhouse Falls, which is awesome. You really can't go wrong. Have fun!

Yes I am, I'll check that out and maybe re-arrange some plans!
