    no hanging below the rim

I have hung below the rim and will again, but not on the Hermit/Boucher loop.

For the group trip we should plan on sleeping on the ground.

I think what makes sense for the group hang would be to have a group hang site above the rim and then those that want to plan a hike/overnight into the canyon can break camp and take a side trip. Knowing that a diverse group will attend, I'm sure some will want to do day hikes and others might want to go into the canyon.

I'd like to go down into the canyon, which will mean a ground bivvy.

we went down Hermit last year, across the Tonto and camped at Monument creek. Trees are desert style, iirc i hung from a mesquite. further down the Tonto i wanna say at Salt Creek, there were a handful of perfectly spaced boxelder or ash, i dont remember which, but i have a photo somewhere of this area that would make a wonderful spot for about 4-5 hangers.

I'd be up for a Hermit/monument/Hermit in and out, but what's really nice is a Hermit to monument, night one
monument to Indian Garden, night two, and out Bright Angel w/ a shuttle back to Hermit t/h. there are GC busses that run this route for free, but only certain times in the mornings.

this photoset is hermit/monument/plateau point/SK to Phantom/out BA http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=10389&start=30 you may get a charge out of my rig hanging inside the group shelter @ phantom ranch. hehe dont tell the ranger!

Since Dejoha is the "trip instigator", he should pick a date or range of dates and place he can go, then whoever can make it will show up. Never going to please everyone. People can organize with each other for their side hikes or inner canyon activities.

I'm a north sider, bc so fewer people Vs southside and would be up for outside park or wilderness, just thinking of perhaps family needs, and the north rim is a drive, but is a unique experience, lots of trails, day hikes and overnights. i've just made reservations for june as it gets dicey on space fast inside. Also if ur planing to go down need to start reserving or gamble on standby, just my two cents.
