Maybe a dumb question.
Anyone use a gear hammock underneath for insulation?
Sort of like the Clark NA concept. I was thinking of doing a 2nd gear hammock underneath my hammock. Think like maybe two ENO hammocks on the same carabiners. You can put your pack, boots and other gear in the bottom hammock, and you lay on the top hammock. I'm thinking in theory that should create a wind barrier and some dead air space in the summer months. In the winter months, you can put the gear in, then lay a quilt in top of the gear, and should in theory create an underquilt effect, insulating you.
Has this been tried and failed? Is there a flaw in my theory?
