    My Man Card

I am hereby voluntarily rescinding my Man Card & my right to call a sewing machine a Thread Injector until further notice.

I cannot recall ever performing, anything I've attempted in my time on this earth, as pathetically as Thread Injection. It took me at least 20hrs, 4 broken needles or was it 5, more thread snaps-snags-bird nests than stars in the sky, to sew 4ft of grosgrain to a sleeping bag & hood. I do now have a working TQ & hoody that looks like a 2yr old snuck into the sewing room.

While I'm not to the point of giving up (I have at least one UQ to attempt) I will wait until Christmas when I visit my Mother-in-Love and get some learnin on proper sewing machine operation. I hope to regain my Manhood sometime soon.
The older I get the better I used to be. Superhero status is near.

It's tough to learn. I learned how to sew out of the need to be employed otherwise I would have thrown the sewing machine in the Cumberland river.

You must not have been holding your mouth just right. Did you jump 3 times on your left foot before you started?

Yep, been there myself. I still have good karma days and bad karma days... but mostly it gets done fairly well. Stick with it.

After four bridges and two GE, my stitching still blows. Not straight, lots of back and forth, loose stitches...

    It gets better....slightly.

It doesn't need to look pretty to be functional!

And if someone (not a customer) is being that critical of your work they need a pop in the nose.

Injecting a sleeping bag is tough to start with. You should find some easier material to play with. I took a sleeping bag and cut the zipper off, then grograin around the edge. It's quite a hack job, but I learned. Was ready to give up on the whole injecting thing. Then found other things to make with new material and found it easy. The more you do, the easier it gets.
