did you check TeeDees big writeup? I don't recall whether he talks about bugnets or not.
I'd be interested to know whether a shock cord perimeter would do the job... seems to me it will have to cinch up pretty tightly to close off the curve in that the sides do on the bridge. At the same time (and in close proximity) it has to be voluminous not to have a lot of stress put on it by the spreader bars. Some significant darts maybe, below the spreader bar level and shortening up the cinched off perimeter. Hmm.
