    Sleeping Bag foot loop

    Hey all,

So most sleeping bags have a loop at the foot for hanging, mine included. Has anyone tried to lash that to a ridgeline using a prusik loop or similar? Does it help keep your bag in place and easier to get in/out from?

Any other suggestions for a noob using his sleeping bag to make it easier? Do most of you sleep in the bag itself or unzip to make it more like a TQ?

I realize that's a lot of questions for one post

Maybe some shock cord as well. I'm going to give it a try tonight and see how it works. Great idea. 1st time I've ever heard it, but that's what I love about this site. Always new ideas.

I use my 45 degree bag unzipped. However, I have a 25degree Feather Friends Winter Wren which is great for walking around in at night, and easy to get in & out of. It's worked for me for many years, but there's a TQ in the near future.

I'll stand next to the hammock, step into SB, pull up past waist, recline in hammock.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

I lay bag in hammock, get in hammock, get out of hammock, pick up bag. Repeat many times. Maybe I'll give your idea a try. Seems to be an improvement.

    Hey Arothian,

I do not yet have a top quilt, so I use my sleeping bag the same way you would use a top quilt.

I have a bottom entry hammock. I put my sleeping bag in the hammock with the zipper unzipped about 3/4 of the length down. I get in the hammock and put my feet in the bag and drape the rest of the bag over me. I find it easy and works well.

I am saving up for a down top quilt (a "Burrow" from Hammock Gear) because it will be warmer, lighter and more packable than my sleeping bag.

    Hope this helps you.
    Take care,
    Bluefin

Ha, so simple. I found this worked best. In addition, I left it mostly unzipped and probably used it very similar to a top quilt.
