Can anyone else hear their heartbeat

I was laying in my hammock yesterday and it was very quiet. My ear was against the fabric and I could head my heart beating perfectly. I don't know if I never noticed it before or I have never hung in the peace and quiet before. My family is in Chicago so I have never had such peace and quiet before. Quiet except for that loud beating. You would have thought somone was brushing the hammock with a brush and great rhythem. It kept me awake until I finally got a pillow. Then, and it may be my imagination, I thought I could feel the hammock moving ever so slightly with my heartbeat. I finally went to bed.

Yes, sometimes in the quiet, I can hear mine as well. Especially if my ear is resting on something other than a soft pillow, like the hammock body itself.

probably something of the same effect of the seashell- the fabric was blocking/reflecting the pressure waves (from the capillaries feeding the eardrum, maybe?)back into your ear..

And that was your moment of Zen. Thanks for sharing, Dutch.

Ah yes, you never really feel alive without a heartbeat... something about having a pulse just makes you feel like you're really living.
