Along the lines of "use what you have and what gets the job done", I took a florist wire, stripped the green fuzzy stuff from it, bent it in half to form a snubby point. It works great, has flexibility yet enough rigidity and most important of all gets the job done. I've made several fixed loops, whoopies and such. It can be addictive though so order at least 100' and have a really sharp cutting implement handy (maybe several).
