Jungle Mosquito Hammock?

My father is looking into getting this Mosquito Jungle Hammock and is asking me if it's any good. Do any of y'all have any experience with this particular hammock or have any advice? http://www.mosquitohammock.com/junglehammock.html

It's $140 with the fly included. I told him that for a little more in price he might as well get a Blackbird. What do you guys think?

Very, very different hammocks than the BBs. But, they aren't without their charms. Like the Clarks, the Claytor hammocks are built more for an inline sleeper as opposed to a diagonal sleeper. Not bad hammocks at all, just different.

I Had one once and liked the quality and the fact that it was long enuff to take 6 foot 7inches of me comfortably, Till i got a BB then realized how narrow the mosquito was, The BB is the cream of the crop and i cant see myself ever looking any futher for comfort and quality.

This is what I was thinking. I love my Blackbird. I don't know what more anyone could want it they're sleeping as good as I an in my Blackbird.

Don't have any of his hammocks but I do have one of his camo diamond tarps. Well made but a little heavy for its size but the price is right.

While the Claytor rain fly / tarp is not the lightest, you can find an Ausie you-tube showing it off very well. Large and well-made. The Claytor bug net opens and zips on both sides. 9.75 ft x 4 feet it is not a small hammock; just not as large as some on the market of the last several years. (People never got good rest in hotel and motel rooms before queen sized beds became standard?)

So, it comes to $$ and priorities. With a rainfly from Warbonnet: $270 vs half that. Many (most?) people putting up a hammock always put up a rain-fly / tarp over it.

A very large plus for a Warbonnet BlackBird for buyers of at least the last year is what every economist would see as a bubble. Those available for immediate shipping and in like-new condition have retained 85-90% of the new price on resale here and on ebay. Few previoiusly owned sporting or outdoor goods have that resale value.

I have 2 claytors, the camping hammock and the expedition. Love them both.

Good hammock I like the better than wbb,wbb gives me knee problems

I like my Claytor Jungle Hammock. But I have no real basis for comparison with other popular makes/models. I don't ever get completely flat in it, but that's not an issue for me. From what I understand, it tends to shoulder squeeze more than some other hammocks. Again, this hasn't been an issue for me.

I actually used it in a jungle: a summer spent in Suriname a couple years ago. It worked well and took abuse without issue. And it kept the bugs away. Lizards seemed to like to crawl on it, though.

There are certainly lighter and more-packable options out there.
