See the 5th post in this thread, by Macentyre. So yes, it sounds like it is effectively a vapor barrier

    Thank you for the responds.
I am thinking about ordering one of the UQ's made with this product or climashield I am just trying to understand how it works and make sure I get the right UQ. I sweat very easy and want to make sure the insulation will dry quickly and move the water in cold temperatures. I am also trying to make sure that the UQP I have on order from 2QZQ will work with the Molly Mac UQ.

As an update, I went with a ppef 3 layer underquilt out of 3 tv bags from work. It is fairly warm and once fitted correctly works very well on my gt ul. Once winter decides to come out of hiding I will get a more accurate idea of what I can get out of it (record highs this december, 53 deg at 10:30 pm in northern Utah). Here is a pic of my wife and little boy trying it out. I decided to only skin the outside. And it comes in at ~10oz. With a stuff sack.

10oz that weights less than the hamburger I had for dinner. Looks good also keep us posted about how it works in coolers temps.

IX will develop a pronounced cold spot where it gets wet.

Usually, sweat is from overheating. That's something that you need to address regardless of whether your UQ is IX or down.

IX won't do that. I don't recommend using IX below freezing.

It will work just fine. I have used them together myself.

So, a Tin Foil Hat would be IMPERMEABLE, right?

MacEntyre, Thank you for the info and I don't wear a hat so i am not qualified to answer that, I guess you could say that's above my pay grade.

I used it last night and it got down to 20 deg. I would say that's the limit for mine with no further suplumentation of bottom insulation. I used a kelty lite 20 deg bag and am happy to report that that rating is actually quite accurate and was toasty on my top side. I may be able to push the quilt lower with some adjustments to the suspension (there are some air gaps in the middle that need to be closed up.
